Duncan Appointed To Fourth Circuit Court

Thursday was an historic day for North Carolina.

The U.S. Senate approved the state's first African-American woman to serve on the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Durham native Allyson Duncan is the first North Carolina judge apointed to the 4th Circuit in 23 years.

The appeals court is based in Richmond, Va., and is one step below the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Senate also approved Judge Louise Flanagan's nomination.
