Teen Girl Charged In Other Teen's Shooting Death

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of another 15-year-old girl.

Antionette Mellette was shot in the chest with a shotgun after an argument with the suspect inside a residence on Cedar Street.

Mellette was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the two girls were friends.

The suspect's identity was not released because she has been charged as a juvenile. She is being held at the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center.

Her first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 4.
