Authorities said speed was a factor in the death of a Wake County sheriff's deputy who was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night.

According to a Raleigh police report, Lee Godwin, 24,was traveling about 85 mph in a 45 mph zone on Ray Road, near Lynn Road, when he lost control of his motorcycle.
