Hunting Accident Puts 15-Year-Old In Hospital

A 15-year-old boy was in the hospital Sunday night after being accidentally shot in the back while hunting with a friend.

According to deputies, the two boys were hunting in a field together on Berea Church Road in Johnston County on Sunday. One boy was walking behind the other around 2 p.m. when he tripped and fell on his gun. The gun went off, and a small caliber bullet hit his friend in the back.

Deputies said the victim was talking at the scene and was expected to make a full recovery. They also said no charges will be filed.
