Additional Charges Filed Against Harnett Teen

A Harnett County teen accused of killing her baby faces additional charges.

Sophia Whitley, 19, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Lab results show two substances found in Whitley's bedroom are marijuana and methamphetamine. Possession of methamphetamine is a felony.

Whitley was arrested In July after police said she put her newborn son in a trash bag and placed him in the trunk of her car. She was charged with felony child abuse and first-degree murder.

The district attorney has not decided if he will seek the death penalty.
