Shoppers To Get Holiday From N.C. Sales Tax

North Carolina shoppers will be getting a sales tax break for school-related items next month.
Last year, the state General Assembly last year approved a bill calling for an annual three-day sales tax holiday, with the first one set for August 2 to 4, 2002.
Keep in mind -- not everything will be tax-free.
According to the
North Carolina Department of Revenue
, the following items will be exempt from the state sales tax over the three-day weekend:
Form E-599H
, North Carolina Sales Tax Holiday Exemption Certificate, or other evidence to establish the exemption.
The sales tax holiday does not apply to the following purchases:
The state predicts shoppers will save nearly $10 million in taxes over the three-day tax sales tax holiday.
