A Cary day-care center will be monitored by the state for months after a child was sent home with the wrong person.
Last month, Chesterbrook Academy accidently sent 6-month-old Zachary Vasco home with another baby's grandparent.
The Department of Health and Human Services has put Chesterfield Academy on probation for six months and fined the center $1,000.
The state said the day-care center must also create a new policy for the safe pick-up and delivery of children in its care.
The Vasco family said they are pleased with the action taken.
