Raleigh Man Charged With Rape

Authorities in Raleigh believe a man charged with rape may be responsible for similar crimes against prostitutes.

Police picked up Dennis Wesley on New Bern Avenue Tuesday morning.

Officers believe Wesley raped a woman late Sunday or early Monday a few blocks away in an abandoned van.

Investigators say he is a suspect in other recent rape cases involving prostitutes.

In those cases, the attacker allegedly drove the women out of the city, into Wake County. He allegedly beat them, severely choked one woman, and drew a knife on another. Officials say two of those victims were also raped.
