A father and his three children are recovering from injuries after the all-terrain vehicle they were riding collided with a car Sunday.

Randy Dennis and his children were trying to cross Highway 421 in Harnett County on his ATV when they were hit by a car driven by James Harris.

Two of Dennis' children were riding on the front grill of the ATV and another was riding in the back. None of them were wearing a helmet.

Dennis' 8-year-old child, Austin, is in critical condition at Duke University Medical Center. His two other children, 4-year-old Triston and 6-year-old Garrett, were treated and released from Central Carolina Hospital.

Dennis is listed in good condition. He faces a number of charges, including failure to yield, driving without insurance and driving without a helmet. He could also face child endangerment charges.
