Seymour Johnson AFB Receives Orders To Join Afghan Conflict

Airmen at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base have been on stand-by since Dec. 1. On Monday, they received their orders to join the war.

The call overseas will involve portions of the 4th Fighter Wing, which comprises F-15 Strike Eagles.

Lt. Beverly Mock of the Public Affairs Department at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base said she could not comment on how many servicemen or aircraft would be called up or where they would go, but she said that the call-up would take place after the holidays.

"Everyone was ready to spend the holidays away from families if they had to, and now that we have received orders for after the holidays, I'm sure that people are relieved," she said.

A number of F-15 Strike Eagles are currently being used for homeland security in Operation Noble Eagle.
