The Durham Police Department's new Victims Assistance Center had its grand opening Wednesday.

The new center is located at 201 West Main Street, between the Latino Credit Union and the Hispanic Center.

"The ambiance will be less threatening to people," said Nestor Gonzalez, the Police Department's Victim/Witness Services Coordinator. "We will provide victim services plus provide public information about other services. We will help people file police reports."

The Center will be open three days a week:

  • Mondays: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: Noon-8 p.m.
  • Gonzalez, who is bilingual, will be at the Victims Assistance Center during these hours.

Victim assistance services are also provided at Durham Police Headquarters.
