Special Operations Units Involved In War In Afghanistan

Military officials have confirmed that soldiers of the United States Army Special Operations are involved in the war in Afghanistan. Many of those soldiers are trained at Fort Bragg.

Special Operations include the Special Forces. Known for their Green Berets, they train for commando raids. The Psychological Operations unit is likely involved in the leaflets dropped from U.S. warplanes in Afghanistan.

The Civil Affairs unit can serve as a liason between the U.S. military and people in foreign countries. Fort Bragg is also home to the highly-specialized and secretive Delta Force.

Besides their own training, Special Operations soldiers train forces from across the world. Some of that takes place at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, located at Fort Bragg.

The Special Operations Command stretches beyond Fort Bragg to include Ranger and Fast Attack aviation units stationed elsewhere. There are more than 26,000 members in Army Special Operations spread throughout the world.
