Cary Police Officer Showing Signs Of Improvement

A Cary police officer shot in the line of duty is continuing to improve at Duke Medical Center.

Doctors say that they have repaired Officer George Almond's eye, and once the bandages come off, he will probably be able to see.

Almond, who is in serious condition, was shot in the head during a traffic stop in Cary near the Walnut street exit last Wednesday night.

Emory Bivins, 28, is accused of shooting Almond. He faces one count of Felonious Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflicting Serious Injury. The Class C felony carries a sentence of between 44 months and 210 months in jail. He is being held on $1 million bond.
