The Durham County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two requests for federal stimulus money.

The board approved a project to convert the Chesterfield Building, an old tobacco warehouse located at Duke and Main Streets, into apartments, retail and office space.

It also approved a million dollar request by Greenfire, to convert the old Suntrust building into boutique hotel and spa. Planners said it will create at least 125 new jobs in downtown Durham.

County Commissioners held a public hearing on the projects on Monday night.
