Durham County veterans will be honored by the hand of a Tuskegee Airman in a bronze sculpture at the North Carolina Veterans Park in Fayetteville.

Veteran Stewart Fulbright will have his hand cast for the sculpture Saturday. The sculpture by artist Aaron Wallace will feature castings of the hands of veterans from each of North Carolina's 100 counties.

Fulbright piloted a B-25 during World War II and belonged to the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-black corps of pilots. He attended a ceremony in Washington, D.C., when President George Bush awarded the Tuskegee Airmen the Congressional Gold Medal in March 2007.

Fulbright also served as the dean of North Carolina Central University's School of Business.
