An Easter Saturday event that features animals playing with papier-mache eggs drew its largest crowd in 14 years to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.

Zoo officials said that 10,681 people attended the "Egg-Stravaganza," breaking the record of 10,437 set in 1995.

The animals got to break into paper-mache eggs, made by zoo volunteers and filled with food treats.

Radio Disney also set up in the North American Plaza, offering games and giveaways for guests.

The egg hunt was part of the zoo's enrichment program to provide mental and physical stimulation for the animals.
