Triangle Business Journal named Victoria Franchetti Haynes, president and CEO of RTI International, as the publication's 2008 Businessperson of the Year.

Haynes saw revenue grow to an all-time high for the Research Triangle Park nonprofit in 2008.

Since Haynes took over as CEO in July 1999, RTI has added almost 1,000 positions, including 200 in 2008, to meet its missing of supporting governments and health care in developing countries.

"We're delighted with our 2008 pick because this award reflects the leadership prowess of a woman who managed to grow a business by 16 percent during a tough economic environment," said Charlene Grunwaldt, publisher of Triangle Business Journal.

Triangle Business Journal Editor Sougata Mukherjee will interview Haynes at the annual Businessperson of the Year dinner on Feb. 11.

Tickets to the event at Raleigh's Cardinal Club are available at $60 for members and $70 for non-members.  To make a reservation, call Becky Sandefur at 919-327-1004 or e-mail bsandefur@bizjournals.com.
