After the retirement of Chief Richard Pope, the town of Knightdale is seeking community input into the characteristics that a new hire should possess.

The office of the town manager is distributing a survey asking residents and other interested parties to help identify the characteristics and qualifications of the candidate to fill the new position of public safety director.

The survey can be returned to the Knightdale Human Resources Department at 950 Steeple Square Court through Sept. 10.
