N.C. State enters $10 million partnership with Eastman Chemical Company

Eastman Chemical Company has awarded N.C. State University a $10 million grant over the next six years to support research among departments at the school.

Part of the money will go towards creating a new laboratory on Centennial Campus called the Eastman Innovation Center, an N.C. State spokesman said.

Eastman scientists will also be able to work in N.C. State labs, and N.C. State researchers will be able to work at Eastman labs. School administrators said students are expected to participate in the research projects.

Six colleges within the university will participate in the joint projects. Research could be conducted in the areas of chemistry, textile engineering, chemical engineering, biomolecular engineering, graphic design, industrial design and forest biomaterials.
