The Carrboro Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved a ban on the construction of new drive-thru windows in downtown and other areas near the center of town.
Drive-thru windows are still allowed along N.C. Highway 54.
The town initially banned drive-thru windows in its downtown area 15 years ago. Tuesday night's vote by the Board of Aldermen was unanimous.
The ban does not affect the town’s seven existing drive-thrus.
