Small Jr. was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin and various other felonies from an incident Saturday, June 10, in New Bern.

A shots fired call Saturday in New Bern led to police arresting and charging a man for making and selling heroin.

According to the New Bern Police Department, officers were called to a shots fired complaint at Sampson and Green Street. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle leaving the area and pursued.

The vehicle jumped a curb and was inoperable near Country Club Road and Highway 70. All three people involved ran from the car, but were later caught by police.

The driver of the vehicle, Otis Small Jr., 19 of Pollocksville, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin and other felony charges.

Police said two 16-year-old juveniles are also involved.

Police said the incident is under investigation and additional charges may be pending. Police do not know if anyone was injured, but added there is no known threats to the community at this time.
