A new barbecue joint is headed to downtown Carrboro.

CrossTies Barbecue will be moving into the old home of Southern Rail in downtown Carrboro, owners announced Monday.

"CrossTies will serve authentic Carolina ‘que with all the fixin’s and feature a variety of smoked meats in a full service menu that features appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. Diners can choose to be seated in a larger central dining room, in one of two historic train cars or on the outdoor patio," according to a press release.

The restaurant is under construction and expects to open in May.

CrossTies is the last project from chef Andrew Moore who also owns Venable Rotisserie Bistro its adjacent B-Side Lounge, also in Carrboro.

The lease also includes the former Station and The Tiger Room businesses. Moore plans to re-open the station as a bar and live music venue in March. The Tiger Room will be converted into a smokehouse and prep-kitchen.
