First round matchups are set and the brackets are finalized for the N.C. High School Athletic Association baseball and softball state playoffs.

On Monday morning, the NCHSAA compiled the final conference standings as reported by each conference throughout the state. The association also received final RPI rankings from MaxPreps.

That information was used to create the playoff brackets. The process began with preliminary brackets, which were released around 12:30 p.m. Schools had until 1:45 p.m. to report errors, then the NCHSAA released finalized the brackets.

All playoff games are held at the higher seed until the regional and state championships series, which are a best-of-three series. First round games are scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at the higher seed.

State championships are also a best-of-three series. Softball state championships will be played at Duke and UNC-Greensboro, while baseball state championships will be played at Burlington Athletic Stadium and Ting Stadium in Holly Springs.
