NC Wanted: Family 'always hopeful' Faith Hedgepeth murder will be solved
Faith Hedgepeth had her whole life ahead of her when her murder shattered the sense of security in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill community.
Nearly six years later, there is no arrest in the case and police need someone to come forward with information to help them connect the dots and solve the case.
The birthdays and holidays come and go, but the pain lingers.
“It’s really hard, hard because of knowing what happened and not knowing why it happened. Who did it?” Hedgepeth’s sister, Rolanda Hedgepeth, said.
Rolanda Hedgepeth lost her sister in September 2012. Faith Hedgepeth was found beaten to death in her off-campus apartment near UNC-CH.
Several people were questioned, some offering DNA for testing, but no arrests have been made.
“One little piece of information could break the case, could give us some type of peace,” Rolanda Hedgepeth said. “How could somebody withhold that after everything we have lost?”
Chapel Hill police hope advancements in DNA will give them the break they need and the justice the family deserves.
“I am always hopeful. You never lose hope,” Rolanda Hedgepeth said.
