NC State asking Poe Hall employees about cancer cases, emails show

North Carolina State University is making plans to move some items out of Poe Hall after cancer-causing chemicals were found in the building.

In an update posted Monday morning, the university asked Poe Hall staff and faculty to identify items still in the building they will need to "successfully start and complete the spring 2024 semester."

At this time, the university said it is not planning a full clean-out of Poe Hall.

The update claims the transfer of PCBs to occupied spaces was limited, but when 5 On Your Side asked for clarification on that statement, a university spokesperson said that only applied to surfaces in the building.

The university still has not released the results of testing that discovered PCBs in Poe Hall and has repeatedly declined WRAL News’ request for an interview.
