Wake Forest High School rising senior linebacker Zane Williams has committed to NC State University. The pledge comes five days after the Wolfpack offered Williams.

The all-state linebacker is a legacy recruit for NC State. Williams' older brother Seth played for the Wolfpack. Seth started as a walk-on but earned a scholarship shortly after.

Williams announced his decision to his Twitter account late Friday night.

Zane was named to the 2022 HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team as a second-teamer after a huge sophomore campaign. Williams racked up 142 tackles (10.9/game), 34.5 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, four pass breakups, and a safety.

Williams was named Defensive Player of the Yearby the coaches in the NAC 6 Conference, one of the state's top 4A leagues.

NC State was the choice for Williams offers from Harvard University, Colgate University, Wingate University, UNC-Pembroke, and Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Williams is the second in-state prospect in the class of 2024 to commit to NC State. The first was Providence Day defensive back Brody Barnhardt.

Wake Forest finished last season with a 10-3 overall record after losing to Rolesville in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4A state playoffs.
