NC Museum of History plans family-friendly in-person, virtual summer programs

The N.C. Museum of History has a bunch of family-friendly activities and events—both in-person and virtual—in July. Here's what's happening.

• Virtual storytimes: The museum will be hosting virtual storytimes at 1 p.m., Wednesday, through Aug. 4. This week, the featured story is "How I Became a Pirate." Future stories include "T is for TarHeel," "The Toy Farmer," "Amazing Grace" and "Players in Pigtails."
• Take-home craft kits: Visitors to the museum can take home craft kits, which will be available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays, July 10, July 24, Aug. 14 and Aug. 28. The craft kit on July 10 will provide materials and instructions to make corn husk dolls. Future projects include mini time capsules, bead and basketball cups and paper canoes and gliders.
• Saturday in the Garden: The museum also will be hosting in-person outdoor garden tours for all ages at 10 a.m., July 17 and Aug. 21.
