A man died days after his wife said someone fired shots at both of them in front of their Catawba County home.

Joy Tucker, 45, called 911 on Saturday around 7 a.m. to report someone was shooting at her and her husband at their home, located at 240 14th Ave. in Hickory.

Officers with the Hickory Police Department responded to the scene and found Tucker lying on the front steps with a knee injury.

Her husband, Prosper Nyatorwonu, 46, was lying injured on the ground near the back of the home.

Nyatorwonu was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries four days later.

Tucker was not able to describe the shooter, who police are still trying to locate.
