NC Highway Patrol car bursts into flames

A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper's car burst into flames as he was traveling down U.S. Highway 264 near Middlesex Saturday afternoon.

The trooper saw smoke from the hood of the car, pulled well off the roadway and safely exited the car.

The front end of the vehicle went up in flames.

The car had just been returned to service after maintenance, so it was likely an electrical issue.

There were no injuries.
