But a new program launching in North Carolina is trying to change that.
It's called the Many Faces initiative.
Breweries across the state are hiring interns with the goal of teaching them everything they need to know about the beer business.. from making their own product to finance.
"the many faces initiative....promoting more inclusivity," said Brian Quinn.
The breweries have pledged to take on at least one intern that is a person of color. Bond Brothers in Cary is one of seven other breweries in North Carolina taking part.
