The North Carolina Aquariums at Fort Fisher, Pine Knoll Shores and Roanoke Island will be closed to the public from Monday, Jan. 29, through Friday, Feb. 2.

During that time, staff and animals will re-commit to each other and to the aquariums' mission: a focus on animal well-being and conservation.

Staff will use the time to tackle projects, improve animal care and make sure the aquariums sparkle and shine for residents and visitors. It is their way to make things go swimmingly the whole year.

The three NC aquariums annually welcome more than 1 million visitors, including thousands of students. A week to refresh and recharges makes that experience better for all.

“The compassion and unwavering commitment of the North Carolina Aquariums team to the animals and the community is unmatched,” said Michael P. Remige, acting director, NC Aquariums.

The aquariums will reopen Saturday, Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. Advance tickets are required to visit the aquariums.
