NC 8-year-old brings gun to school, shows it off at playground

An 8-year-old brought a gun to an elementary school in Robeson County on Thursday, school officials said.

The second-grader was on the playground at Knuckles Elementary School and showed another student the gun.

This is the sixth gun found on a school campus in the Public Schools of Robeson County and the second gun found at an elementary school.

Parents and grandparents of children who attend Knuckles Elementary said their students are afraid to go back to school.

The student will be suspended for a year, officials said.
