NBC Poll: Younger voters pick Biden

Young voters prefer candidate Joe Biden over President Donald Trump, according to a new poll from NBC based on Wall Street Journal data.

Generation Z voters, which are voters in the 18 to 23 age range, only make up 7% of voters in this poll. Baby Boomers, aged 56 to 74, made up 30% of voters.

The majority of Generation Z voters have an overall negative view of Donald Trump and disapprove of how he has handled the COVID-19 pandemic while in office.

While Trump is unpopular, Biden is also underwater with younger voters. When asked about Biden's image, 26% of GenZ voters said they had a positive view, and 41% said they had a negative view.

GenZ women were most likely to have a negative few of current president Donald Trump. An overwhelming 70% of women voters aged 18 to 23 said they had a negative view of President Trump. A total of 69% of GenZ women said they were going to vote for Biden.

There’s a wide gap between younger white voters and non-white voters. 72% of GenZ voters who are non-white said that they disapproved of Trump, while 42% of white GenZ voters said that they approve of the president.

With the strongest voting base -- the Boomers -- there are wide gaps between white voters and non-white voters. 76% of non-white Boomers say that they disapprove of Trump, while 47% of white Boomers say they a positive view of trump.

About the same number of white Boomers have a negative view of Trump, the poll shows.

This polling was done from January to August this year.
