Following a day of severe storms, Triangle residents might want to enjoy a free day of outdoor fun when the weather clears Saturday.

All United States national parks will offer free admission on April 20 to celebrate the start of National Park Week.

There are more than 400 national parks across the country, and the National Park Service said the most visited national parks in 2018 were Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain, Zion and Yellowstone.

The National Park Service offers free admission to all parks five times each year, including on Jan. 21, to celebrate the birth of Martin Luther King Jr., Aug. 15, to celebrate the creation of the National Park Service, Sept. 28, to celebrate National Public Lands Day, and Nov.11, in honor of Veteran’s Day.

You can see a full list of national parks in North Carolina on the National Park Service website.
