Narcotics Officer, Suspect Shot in Robeson County

A Robeson County deputy and a suspect were both shot during an altercation Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Narcotics officers served a warrant at a home off Barker Ten Mile Road, a rural area near Saint Pauls, at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Shots were fired, and a deputy and a suspect were injured, authorities said.

Deputy Jeremy Ammons was listed in good condition Friday morning at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Marktinis Patterson, 25, was treated at an area hospital and released. He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of cocaine, trafficking in marijuana and felony conspiracy.

Patterson was being held in the Robeson County Jail on a $10.5 million bond.

Details surrounding the shooting haven't been released.
