The coach of North Carolina State University's dance team was charged Wednesday with embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from her team.

An arrest warrant states that Jamila Kikora Wright, 27, of 1356 Sunbow Falls Lane, Apt. 305 in Raleigh, stole $21,001.31 in "currency, goods and services" from the team between December 2007 and February.

The team is supported by fundraising and is not funded by the NCSU athletic department.

She has been released under a $2,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

The warrant states that Wright was the dance team's "officer and fiduciary." A biography posted on N.C. State's sports website lists Wright as the dance team's coach in 2009-10.

The dance team's website no longer lists her in that position.

Wright was a member of the N.C. State's dance team for four years before graduating in 2004, according to her biography.
