N.C. art museum plans virtual, in-person family day

The N.C. Museum of Art is planning virtual and in-person activities for its upcoming family day as part of its special exhibit "Golden Mummies of Egypt."

Golden Mummies Family Day takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 22.

In-person activities include, according to the museum:

  • Free admission to Golden Mummies of Egypt. Walk-up tickets only, available at Tickets and Membership (East Building). Capacity is limited.
  • Golden Mummies Scavenger Hunt. Available in English and Spanish.
  • NCMA To Go Activity Kits: Masked Portraits and Papyrus. First come, first served until kits run out in the Museum Plaza. Instructions available in English and Spanish.
  • Egyptian-edition Museum Jukebox, Museum Park Theater, 11 am–1 pm. Find the songs in the museum's special Golden Mummies-inspired playlist on Spotify.
  • Picnic in the Museum Park from our Golden Mummies Exhibition Café. Only on May 22, receive a free chocolate chip cookie with the purchase of an entrée while supplies last. Order online and use code COOKIE at checkout or request your free cookie at checkout when visiting.

For virtual activities, the museum's website will post videos, hands-on art-making ideas, and more inspired by ancient lives on May 22.
