Multiple crashes causing delays on I-40 near Durham

Multiple crashes on I-40 eastbound between I-885 and Davis Drive caused heavy delays in Durham during the Thursday morning commute.

One crash was blocking the right lane, and second crash was blocking the left lane.

Delays of up to nearly half an hour were reported during the commute.

WRAL News is also hearing reports of one or two other crashes along I-885 S near T.W. Alexander Road.

Delays on I-40 eastbound begin around Hwy. 55 and extend through I-885.

Sensors show back ups on I-885 starting around Davis Drive, with solid backups from T.W. Alexander to Cornwallis Road.

Taking Hwy. 54 to Miami Blvd. could be used as an alternate route.
