A Fuquay-Varina man was arrested last week following a high-speed chase through Chatham County.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said deputies on Nov. 18 attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on N.C. Highway 42 in New Hill.

The driver fled, reaching speeds of 120 mph before the chase ended when the motorcycle experienced engine trouble on Beaver Creek Road.

The motorcyclist, Robert Aaron Kellogg, 35, of 704 Pepperstone Court, was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, failure to yield to lights and sirens, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, failure to stop at a stop sign, unsafe passing on a yellow line, failure to maintain lane control and having an expired registration.

Kellogg was being held under $5,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 3.
