A Clayton man was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle in Garner, police said.

Eric Christopher Levesque ran a red light at the intersection of West Garner and Benson roads shortly before 4 p.m. and collided with a car driven by Marvin Roy Baker, of Garner, according to a police report.

Levesque was thrown from his motorcycle and killed. A passenger on the motorcycle, Melissa Ann Barnes, of Clayton, also was thrown and was seriously injured, police said.

The motorcycle burst into flames after the crash.

Police estimated the motorcycle was traveling at 50 mph at the time of the collision, and the crash caused Baker's car to hit another car, driven by Givanni Lee Holmes, of Garner.

Baker, Holmes and their passengers weren't hurt in the crash.
