Motorcyclist killed in early morning crash near Willow Springs

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Johnston County early Friday morning.

The crash occurred before 5 a.m. in the area of 863 Dixon Road, close to Dixon Road Elementary School and Stephenson's BBQ.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol confirmed Jacob Hicks, 29, was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he went off the road and flipped.

Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene
