Mother accused of using children to shoplift

A federal immigration detainer has been placed on a Sanford mother who allegedly used her children to help her shoplift from Kohl's.

Carmen Gallargo was charged with misdemeanor larceny and controlled delinquency of a minor Sunday.

According to court documents, she encouraged her children, ages 8, 10 and 12, to steal clothing and jewelry from the story at 2350 Walnut St. in Cary.

She is being held in the Wake County Jail on a $2,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday at 2 p.m.
