Morris indicted, home to be sold at auction

The home of Kelly and Scott Morris at 3220 Tump Wilkins Road was signed into foreclosure Tuesday morning. An auction was set for Jan. 5.

The couple has been in the news since September 2008, when Kelly Morris was reported missing and their home caught fire.

William Scott Morris, 35, was indicted Monday in her death and with setting the fire at their home. He was being held in the Granville County Detention Center without bond.

Authorities found the skeletal remains of Kelly Morris, 28, Nov. 17 and charged her husband on the same day.

While the case winds through the courts, Kelly Morris' father and stepmother – Pat and Juanita Currin – have custody of the Morrises' 6-year-old daughter. A second daughter, Kelly Morris' from a previous relationship, has been staying with her father.

According to search warrants in the case, family members and friends told authorities the couple was having marital problems and had talked about divorce.
