More than a dozen cars go up in flames at Knightdale auction yard

More than a dozen cars caught fire Monday morning at a Knightdale salvage and auction yard.

At 1:50 a.m., Knightdale and New Hope fire crews responded to a report of vehicles burning at Copart, a vehicle salvage and auction yard located at 1900 Old Crews Road. 

When crews arrived, they found 15 vehicles burning in the open storage yard. It took fire crews about three hours to extinguish the fire.

An investigation is underway. No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
