Moore County trio linked to series of burglaries

The Moore County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday announced a collaborative effort with the Aberdeen and Southern Pines police departments that resulted in the arrest of three people linked to a series of burglaries and break-ins.

Steven Earl Taylor, 39, and Heather Deaton Lamonds, 26, both of Southern Pines, each face 29 counts of the following charges: breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property.

Authorities did not say how many individual break-ins the charges represent, but that noted that the arrests stem from a property crimes task force working connected incidents across Moore County.

Taylor was also charged with probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender. He was wanted by South Carolina authorities on a first-degree burglary charge. He was being held Tuesday at the Moore County Detention Center on $5,020,000 bond.

Lamonds' bond was set at $500,000.

A third person, Mychael Scott Gillis was charged with two counts of probation violation. His bond was set at $100,000.

A Moore County Sheriff's Office spokesman said he expected more charges against each of the three as the investigation continues.
