Moore County man faces rape charge

A Moore County man has been arrested on a charge of second-degree rape in a case involving a 19-year-old woman, authorities said Wednesday.

Larry Wayne Boone, 46, of 533 McLaughlin Road, Cameron, was arrested June 11 and placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

Sheriff Lane Carter said the woman was camping near the intersection of McPherson Road and Cabins Creek Road at an area known as the “Hippy Hole” when the rape occurred.

Boone's first court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
