Mom, dad arrested after 5-year-old found wandering at Raleigh hotel

A mother and father were arrested Sunday after their 5-year-old child was found wandering shirtless outside a Comfort Inn in Raleigh.

Jalisa Nicole Brooks, 28, and Deshawn Jones, 25, were living at the hotel at 2539 S. Saunders St., police said.

Another guest of the hotel found the child and alerted authorities.

On the warrant for her arrest, Brooks, 28, is listed as living at the Super 8 next door. Jones' home address is listed as 453 Rose Lane in Raleigh. Both are charged with misdemeanor child abuse.

He was being held on $5,000 secured bond and prohibited from contact with the child. Brooks' bond was set at $2,000.
