Missing ammo puts Bragg unit on lockdown

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg has been under lockdown since late Tuesday while authorities search for some missing ammunition, according to a post spokeswoman.

A routine inventory turned up "discrepancies in the accountability of small arms ammunition," prompting soldiers in the combat team to be recalled "to their respective unit areas" until the issue is resolved, the spokeswoman said.

"This equipment accountability discrepancy has no effect on the overall readiness level in support of the Global Response Force mission," the spokeswoman said.
