The Middlesex Chief of Police and an administrative assistant were in custody Wednesday on charges of cyberstalking.

Chief William Dennis Murray was arrested by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office while off-duty Tuesday. Town of Middlesex administrative assistant Tammy Pittman surrendered to police Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said the arrests stem from charges taken out by Pittman’s husband that allege cyberstalking by Pittman and Murray.
