Out & About hosted a Tweet Up at Mia Francesca Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. The event was a big success, and guests chatted while sampling yummy cocktails and appetizers.

Italian restaurant Mia Francesca closed its doors permanently last week, a manager at the restaurant confirmed Tuesday.

Part of the Francesca’s Restaurant Group, Mia Francesca opened in October 2011 beside the Renaissance Hotel in North Hills.

"Sadly, we were permanently closed last week with no warning," Mia Francesca North Hills Event Sales Manager Casey MacNeilage told WRAL News via email.

WRAL reached out to Francesca’s Restaurant Group for more information but has not heard back.

Mia Francesca is not the only restaurant to close in recent months. In 2020, about 100 Triangle area restaurants closed, many in response to the coronavirus pandemic's economic effect on the industry.

Despite the challenges the pandemic created, there were many restaurants that did, however, open their doors in 2020.
